There are various
qualities
of leadership. Leaders, however, are mostly known for their
vision and implementation of that vision.
They know how to drive others
to help them reach goals. They understand how to help others change
behaviors so that strategies can be made.
Some of the most important leadership
qualities include:
* Listening to others’ opinions
and views. Good leaders know how to do this in a positive way. They
also learn how to base some of their goals and strategies off of the
needs of their followers.
* Leaders are great communicators. They know
how to express themselves clearly. They also know when to speak calmly
or motivationally. They are also very easy to follow because they give
understandable directions.
* Good leaders also help their followers or
team members understand the problems that are in the way of desired
outcomes. Good leaders know how to also help their team find
appropriate solutions.
* One of the qualities of leadership that is
often looked over, but is really essential, is delegations. Leaders
know the knowledge and skills of their team. They maximize this
knowledge by asking for help.
* Good team leaders also know how to
appropriately show appreciation toward team members who do a great job.
They know when to reward team members.
* Leaders also hold the quality of respect.
They try to treat others how they would like to be treated. They follow
the Golden Rule. They don’t just demand respect, but show
that they deserve it.
* Good leaders also know how to set goals.
They know how to establish objectives that are attainable and
understandable.
* Leaders try to include creativity or
innovation into the goals that are set.
* Good leaders also try to keep everyone
involved in the strategies that they have implemented.
* One of the most important qualities of
leadership also includes encouraging integrity, values, and ethics, in
the workplace.
John Quincy Adams defined a leader as
someone who inspired others to dream, learn, do, and become more. If
you move people to do these things, you are probably on your way to
becoming a great leader.
